Guarana, much more than a source of energy!

Guarana is a plant found in the Amazon rainforest, mainly in Brazil and Venezuela. It is a shrub that has red fruit with small black seeds inside. These seeds are the "secret" of this plant. The guarana seed is rich in caffeine, guaranine, and other natural substances. These are the seeds that are used for guarana extract, either in the form of a supplement, an energy drink, or tea. Today there are many uses for this seed. It is used for example as a source of energy, and for certain schemes for cognitive improvements and more.
Guarana is a type of caffeine. One portion of the seed can have up to 350 mg of caffeine. A guarana seed contains about three times more caffeine than coffee bean (a coffee cup has only 65 to 130mg of caffeine). But the seed has more more than coffee. It boosts energy naturally! Nowadays, we all need extra energy in our stressful lives. Unlike coffee, the caffeine in guarana is released over a longer period and therefore gives you a continuous flow of energy. This can be particularly useful for those who work at night. It can help you stay up, awake during long nights of your work. Some even suggest that it is a natural aphrodisiac, which agrees quite well with the energy function.
Guarana assists your metabolism, which is a plus in the process of fat burning. It is the caffeine in guarana that helps boost metabolism. Your metabolism controls the burning of fat cells. When your metabolism is working harder, your body can easily burn a greater amount of fat. The seed is also used to suppress appetite. This is very useful when it comes to losing weight and dieting. A study was conducted on 44 overweight patients. These patients took a combination of yerba mate, guarana and damiana. Over a period of 45 days the patients lost an average of 5 pounds. Some studies have even shown that the use of guarana can reduce cellulite.
Guarana is also considered a natural remedy for intestine. The inhabitants of the Amazon have been using for years. It relieves the intestine, reducing gas and cure diarrhea.
Studies have also shown that guarana provides cognitive improvements. It promotes memory, your mood and level of attention. Scientists have claimed that the results can only be linked to caffeine. With such benefits, be sure to consume during your next exam. Another study showed that it had antidepressant properties in rats. It grows to think for long term use, guarana can avoid falling into a depression.
Be careful though not to make excessive use. Too much caffeine is not good for the body. If you have chronic health problems, it is advisable to seek the advice of your GP.
